Purified from mouse ascites fluids or tissue culture supernatant by affinity chromatography (protein A/G)Gene Name:
Homo sapiens ornithine transcarbamylase (OTC), mRNA; nuclear gene for mitochondrial product.Gene symbol:
OTCGene ID:
5009Swiss-Prot No.:
P00480Pathway:
Arginine and proline metabolism, Metabolic pathwaysFunction:
Druggable GenomeSummary:
This nuclear gene encodes a mitochondrial matrix enzyme. Missense, nonsense, and frameshift mutations in this enzyme lead to ornithine transcarbamylase deficiency, which causes hyperammonemia. Since the gene for this enzyme maps close to that for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, it may play a role in that disease also. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]Form:
Lyophilized powder (original buffer 1X PBS, pH 7.3, 8% trehalose)Storage/Stability:
Stable for 1 year at -20°C from date of shipment. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and opening the cap. Aliquot will be stable at 4°C short term. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C or below. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.Storage Buffer:
